Mercury is the planet closest to our cosmic father, the sun. One day on this planet is equal to over 1400 hours and a year is equivalent to 88 Earth days. Mercury is the smallest and fastest planet in our solar system and is visible in our skies during dawn or dusk.It is known as the master of communication, technology and information.
At night this planet is hundreds of degrees below freezing while daytime receives scorching hot temperatures. This is why the planet and astrology signs associated with it is symbolic of duality, balance and an understanding of both worlds and perspectives. Mercury rules over the signs Virgo and Gemini.
The position of mercury on your birth chart demonstrates how you reason, communicate with others and process and share information. This planet makes us conscious of opposites: of light and dark, ying and yang.
Mercury enters a retrograde period three times a year for 3 weeks each time. When a planet is in retrograde, from the perspective of Earth the planet appears to be moving backwards and towards the west. It is symbolically interpreted as a time to (re)flect, (re)invent, (re)pair,(re)store, (re)replenish and (re)think. During this time communication can seem erratic. The nerves of your body and those of the earth are become more sensitive, heightened to information. Take this time to be meditative, to ground and to become clear on what your goals & desires truly are.
You can use Mercury energy in ritual work for media, technological and educational manifestations. If you wish to gather information, increase your knowledge, and communicate more efficiently surround yourself with Mercurial energy
Make sure to have a balance of mercurial energies. Like all things, it has its polarity..
